The route from my home in Tenetiše to Mali Lošinj
It was in the end of July 2006 when we departed from home to spend our vacations on the Croatian island Lošinj. We were really excited about this and hardly wait to get there. I was a bit scarred as our son always has difficulties on the way, but everything ended up just great.
We reached our destination around 10 am and we had even to wait for our room to be empty and prepared for us. As we didn't have anything to do at the momment, we just walked a bit along the beach and had some sigtseeing.

Oh, I forgot to tell you what actually our destination was. It was Hotel Vespera in Mali Lošinj app. 15 minutes walk through the forest to the city of Mali Lošinj.
The city is like all cities near the sea in Croatia, quite old with the stony houses and nerrow streets, small and with kind citizens. This town isn't much different and it's interesting to go for a walk there at the evenings (speaking of summer time of course) having ice-cream or just sitting in one of many caffees, restaurants or bars and enjoying cold drink and observing the sea and people walking by.
Hotel Vespera is "sister hotel" to Hotel Aurora which stands directly near. It was all accomodity and a lot of things to do if you are more modest in your demands. So we stayed in Hotel Vespera. The accomodation suited us well as we're not demanding guests at all. What do you need more then pleasant room where you can sleep and a good food to enjoy. Yes we're like that, being able to enjoy every single moment with what we have and not with what we could and should have. Our room was on the sea side so we could really enjoy the beautiful sunsets at the evenings right from our balcony.
During the day we usually were on the beach in the mornings until app. noon and then we went to the near restaurant to eat something. The food was delicious, waiters and waitresses were kind and service was really good. So, yes, we enjoyed a meal every day in this restaurant near the beach with beautiful view on the sea again. In the evenings there was even more romantic with great sunsets, the music for dancing every second evening and excellent wine you could dring with the excellent food. Oh, well we didn't go eating there at the evenings, but we stopped quite often for the last cold drink for the day as it was really extreamly hot those days. At the afternoons we went to the beach again after some resting in not so much colder, but still pleasant ambient of our room. On the beach we enjoyed pure water having fun, swimming and being lazy on the sun. There wasn't much good spots for settling down and easily going in the water and that's why the spot we were was so crowded. This is actually the only thing which could a bit annoy us, but we decided not to be disturbed by this in our enjoyable vacation time. The game with a little tennis ball or swimming was the best entertainment, but not so very easy to do with so many people around. At dinner time we left the beach and good food with tasty wine was really welcomed after so many activities in the water. After that we usually went for a long walk along the beach or to Mali Lošinj town. The temperatures dropped a little so such walk was really pleasant thing to do. In both hotels there were several activities, but I have to admit we didn't take a part in them. When we're on vacations we enjoy to be on our own so we went our own ways. The walk along the beach is really a pleasant thing to do there as there is a way made along so that all people can easily walk. The beach itself is rocky though and suitable only for those who like to climb and jump across the rocks and also for all those, who tend to search for interesting stuff there like shelves etc. We usually were among the first kind of people enjoying the leasuring walk watching sunset with digital camera always ready ...
On the whole beach along the hotels there are only two sandy bays where all generations can really enjoy. On the side where we usually were there was a little bay beneath the restaurant in which we usually ate and if you didn't come really early, you couldn't find a spot to lay down on the sun. It is sandy even in the water and with low water at the beginning so very suitable for little kids to play. On the other side near Hotel Aurora is the sport complex with beautiful sandy bay and beautiful greenish looking water, too. Once we went there but we were a bit disappointed as when we came closer we noticed that the beach really isn't so clean as we expected. But what can you expect from such crowd there through entire day? Well, there was a mini-golf too and we went to play it once, but on our surprise we needed to play it in the middle of the afternoon. In the evening, when people usually are eager to play it the most, the playground was closed. Ummm, well, if you had your own equipement you could play though, but we didn't have it.
The personal of the hotel was kind, too and we really enjoyed each and every day there. The holidays ended too soon as we only had a week to spend there and so we decided that one day we will return.

Island Lošinj lies in Croatia and is a part of Kvarner Islands. It used to be connected to the island of Cres but the Romans dug a canal between the two islands thus making a passageway for boats and ships. Around the island of Lošinj there are several smaller islands such as Unije, Ilovik and Susak which mostly consists of sand. The largest place on the island of Lošinj is Mali Lošinj famous for its beautiful beaches and pine trees. One can also see dolphins in the Lošinj archipelago where there is a reservation for these beautiful animals. There is also a day dedicated to dolphins celebrated in August. In smaller places on the island such as Nerezine, Ćunski and St. Jakov one can relax in the peace and quiet. The other larger towns on the island of Losinj are Artatore, Nerezine, Veli Losinj. Island of Losinj is surrounded by beautiful beaches and clear blue sea. Visitors can choose to come by boat or fly. Island of Losinj has a small international airport for sport aircrafts and is great for those who would like to getaway for the weekend. Sailing around Losinj can be a unique experience, for guests will have the chance to see a certain species of dolphin which lives in Losinj's aquatory. Losinj is small and unique. Its nature and beauty will knock you off your feet.
Mali Losinj is the largest town and is the main harbour on the island. It is located in a very deep inlet so its harbour is very well protected from the open sea. In its harbour you will find a marina for yachts and a shipyard. In the past, ship-building was the city's main source of income. Now, most of the population is occupied by tourism. This Mediterranean town is filled with historical churches and monuments as well as beautiful houses which were built long ago and are very well preserved. Mali Losinj offers accommodations as in surrounding campsites, hotels, apartments and rooms in private homes. It is also known for its many restaurants and taverns which serve fantastic seafood and great traditional cuisine. Guests can enjoy walks along the promenade by the sea which stretches from Mali Losinj to the town of Čikat.
Surrounding of Mali lošinj is suitable for long walks along the beach, where is very pleasant to sit on the rocks beach and monitor the sunset. Those who like to do sports, also have a lot of activities for disposal, from tennis, mini golf, surfing, animated programs etc. Children are also able to do a lot of things as the hotels and turistic agencies organize animated program especially for them too.
In oen word, you'll enjoy the peaceful and pleasant vacations.
